The land plays a significant role in Zuni’s wellness, culture, and values, and getting Zuni youth outside has monumental health benefits. Through the following initiatives, ZYEP aims to connect our youth to culturally significant sites so they can learn about our history, the importance of having access to these spaces today, and contribute to bringing equity to the outdoor industry.
Culturally Significant Visits
We offer various backpacking, camping, hiking, and outdoor opportunities throughout the year and region. These spaces have deep connections to Zuni ancestral migration routes and culture. A cultural advisor from the community joins each visit in order to teach the youth about the space and how to respectfully interact with the land.
